CK Athletes Participate in National Signing Day

On Wednesday, February 7th, eleven CK senior athletes were joined by their families, coaches, teammates, and administrators to celebrate their participation in National Signing Day. Each student has made great achievements during their time at Cranbrook, and will be using their talents to compete in their respective sports at the college level.

Carmen Chan has signed to Wellesley College’s golf team. During her time at Cranbrook, she has earned All-State, Academic All-State, All-Oakland County, All-Catholic League, and two-time Team MVP honors. She took 3rd place at State Championships; and served as Managing Editor of the school’s award winning newspaper, Senior Class Vice-President, and a Gold Key Leader.

Evan Daldin has signed to Concordia University’s hockey team. He plans to play in their inaugural season starting in 2018-19, and is joining the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Giovanni Esquivel has signed with Adrian College’s rowing team. He was an invaluable member of the Cranbrook Men’s Crew during their first gold medal win. He also won the Peterson/Brown Award for Helpfulness, Initiative and Consideration for Team First.

Tim Hauxwell has signed to Michigan Tech University’s football team. His football career at Cranbrook earned him OT-AP 2nd Team All-State, Detroit News Honorable Mention All-State, Detroit News All-County, and All-League honors. As the basketball team’s captain, he also earned Honorable Mention All-State and All-Catholic League honors.

Benji Jacobson has signed to Tulane University’s tennis team. Not only was he awarded two-time All-American, 4-Time All-State, 4-Time Academic All-State, and 3-Time #1 Singles State Champion honors, he also served as a two-time captain of the 3-Time State Championship Boys Tennis Team.

Nate Moll has signed to Middlebury College’s squash team. He has competed at the Birmingham Athletic Club, the US Squash Junior Nationals tournament, and has been thrice awarded the title of Midwest Regional Junior Squash Champion. He has also won the US Squash Scholar Athlete Award and is on the Honor Roll and Dean's List.

Isabelle Scane has signed to Northwestern University’s lacrosse team. Scane led the Cranes to victory at the MHSAA State Championship Games in 2015 and 2016, won the State Championship 2017, and served as team captain. She is a two-time All-American, three-time All-State, All-Catholic League Field Hockey-All-State, Academic All-State, and All-Catholic League award winner.

Davis Schiller has signed to the Air Force Academy’s lacrosse team. He is a four-year varsity letter winner for lacrosse, also winning letters in ice hockey, where he served as team captain. He has been awarded All-State and All-Catholic League honors.

Christopher Smith has signed to Harvard University’s football team. His impressive career stats include 240 tackles (with 22 for loss), 12 sacks, 7 fumble recoveries, and 1 touchdown. He has earned MHSFCA 1st Team, All-State, Detroit News 2nd Team All-State, Detroit News All-County, and four-time All-Catholic League honors. He is a varsity letter winner in both football and basketball, and served as captain on both teams.

Marqis Stokes has signed to the University of Findlay’s football team. During his time as defensive back and team captain, Stokes has made impressive accomplishments on the field, including 84 tackles (5 for loss) and 7 interceptions (2 returned for touchdowns). He has also been awarded All-Catholic honors.

Angie Wiater has signed to Amherst College’s hockey and lacrosse teams. During her time on CK’s hockey team, she won awards as a Belle Tire 16U AAA 2017 State and National Champion and scored the winning goal at the National Championship. As a lacrosse player, she earned 1st Team All-State and All-Catholic League honors, and scored the winning goal at the 2017 MHSAA State Championship game.
