CK Team Earns “Final Four” Spot in 2017 National LifeSmarts Championship

Four Cranbrook Schools students were awarded semi-finalist status in the 2017 National LifeSmarts Championship. Now in its 23rd year, the competition took place in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania from April 21st to the 24th.

Seniors Aaron Han, Michael Bian, Ryan Neff, and Nikhil Baddam took third place in the “final four” spots at the championship. This is a great accomplishment, as the competition featured teams from 31 schools across the country. In addition to competing with his teammates, Michael Bian competed at the individual level and was awarded a place in the top five scorers for his expertise in the Technology category.

Supported by the National Consumers League (NCL), LifeSmarts is a consumer literacy program that offers competitive scholarships to high school students across the nation. Participating students form teams and compete in online contests. Those who achieve top scores enter state championships, and move on to the national championship, which takes place each April.

Winning teams are awarded prizes and scholarships according to their achievements at these competition. In addition to potential team awards, individual students are also able to compete for scholarships according to their ability to exhibit knowledge and competency in a specific academic discipline or program.
