Cranes lose CHSL Dual Match to Lutheran North

The Cranes traveled to Macomb Township Thursday afternoon where the teed it up with CHSL rival Lutheran North. The Cranes and the Mustangs have battled each other for the D3 State Championship the last 2 years with each team coming away with one MHSAA Championship. With Cranbrook moving up to D2 this season there will be no rematch at States so both teams were viewing this as “The Match”.
The Mustangs led by the #1 ranked player in the state Lauren Timpf (35) and Gabby Cardenas (38) jumped out to a large lead. The Cranes battled back led by Senior Mackenzie Behnke with a 41. Junior Sophia Kouza and Sophomores Alina Yun and Sydney Behnke all posted 43 to give the Cranes a 170 total which was one stoke too high as they were defeated by the Mustangs who totaled 169. Sophomore Harriet Cortez (45) and Senior Anya Samsonov (53) also competed by did not figure into the team scoring.
