Alexis Bohlinger
Up until this point in the season, the Cranes have had a difficult time putting the puck in the net. This all started to turn around, however, in their league game on Tuesday, January 8th versus Grosse Pointe South at Fraser Hockey Land. With increased scoring opportunities and the Cranes' solid defense, the team displayed a very strong game versus current first place team, GP South.

The Cranes logged two goals from freshman defenseman Emily Jerris, 1 from sophomore forward Olivia Demuth and 1 from freshman forward Maryam Khan. Sophomore goalie, Paige Gorman faced 52 shots.

The Cranes took the lead early in the first with a goal from Olivia DeMuth (Assisted by Sasha Richie). Grosse Pointe South answered  a few minutes later tying the game at 1-1. Just 30 seconds following, the Cranes regained the lead with a goal from defenseman Emily Jerris (Assisted by Lilli Sherman). The play went back and forth until the end of the second, with another goal from GP South, then a goal from Cranbrook's Maryam Khan (Assisted by Caroline Brown and Armani Messner). Followed with one more goal from South.

The Cranes entered the third period tied 3-3 with the Blue Devils. Both teams battled to take the lead, however, it was the Blue Devils that were able to maintain the majority of the puck possession. The Blue Devils scored two more goals in the third finishing the game at 6-4 in their favor.

The Cranes displayed a very strong penalty kill and even man plan against Grosse Pointe South.
