With the school year coming to a close, to say that the weather this spring was a challenge would be an understatement but we managed to not only get the season in…….we had a great spring! Here is the Cranbrook spring 2013 athletic season wrap up.

Cranbrook’s Crew Team is in its fifth season as a varsity sport and had 50 members this spring, including 15 first-year rowers. The spring 2013 crew season was highlighted by several notable results. The women’s pair of Haley Harper (Sr) and Claire Erwin (Jr) won the bronze medal at the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Association Championships. This was the second year in a row that CK won the bronze in this event at Midwest. The women’s varsity 4 won the silver medal at Wyandotte and finished 14th of 19 at Midwest. They were only 2 places from qualifying for the semifinal.

The men’s junior 8 won the silver medal at the Wyandotte Regatta, and they finished 12th of 19 at Midwest. The speed of this crew, made up of sophomores and juniors, is an exciting sign for the years to come. The men’s varsity 8 won the bronze medal at the Wyandotte Regatta, and finished 13th of 16 at Midwest. They were only one place from qualifying for the semifinal. This crew, which included seniors Jack Coleman, Giancarlo Stefanutti, Nick Sheehan, Kevin Kresnak, Austin Glover, and Kevin Zen, demonstrated that four years of perseverance can result in success. Even with seven seniors graduating, the future of the team looks bright.
