Bravo congratulates Cranbrook TV producer Bill Prady C’77 and the cast of his show The Big Bang Theory for winning Best Comedy Series this week at the Critics' Choice Awards.
Big Bang also snatched up two awards for best supporting actors Simon Helburg (Howard) and Kaley Couco (Penny). With three wins, The Big Bang Theory won more Critics' Choice Awards this year than any other series.
In January, the People’s Choice Awards also recognized The Big Bang Theory as Favorite Network TV Comedy. The show’s recent accolades include five Emmy Award nominations last September and two Golden Globe nods in December.
Prady is co-creator and executive producer of the CBS hit show. He started his television career as a writer for Jim Henson’s Muppets. While Prady worked for the Muppets, a puppet named Chip was created in his likeness. He has written for TV hits including Married... with Children, Dharma & Greg, Caroline in the City, The Gilmore Girls, and now The Big Bang Theory. The show focuses on the lives of two socially inept physicists whose lives changed when a free-spirited beauty moved in next door. Prady is the show's co-creator along with Chuck Lorre. In 2010, Prady and Lorre were inducted into the Canadian Royal Institute for the Advancement of Science for “creating a television program that seamlessly melds science and everyday life.”
