Michigan High School Football Hall of Fame member Joseph (Joe) D’Angelo has been named head varsity football coach for Cranbrook Schools. D’Angelo began his career in education and athletics in 1966, and has since held positions in both public and private schools that include classroom teacher, coach, athletic director, and divisional director (or principal).
Says Cranbrook Schools’ Athletic Director Steve Graf, “We are very excited about Coach D’Angelo taking over the reins of the Cranbrook varsity football program. He brings successful experience as a Michigan Hall of Fame football coach, as an educator and as a mentor of young men. Joe’s football contributions to the Catholic League and to our local community are legendary. The hiring of Coach D’Angelo brings immediate credibility to the program!”
D’Angelo was named Associated Press Coach of the Year in 1985, Michigan High School Coach of the Year in 1986, and was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Hall of Fame in 1990. He has served as a member of the Association of Independent Michigan Schools (AIMS) Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, as well as a clinic moderator for the Nike Football Coach of the Year Clinic.
D’Angelo holds a Bachelors in Education from the University of Detroit and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from Wayne State University.
