Cranes Take Opener, Fall in Second Game vs. ND Prep

On a sad day for the Cranbrook family, the JV Cranes found the best way to honor Coach Sanders by playing the game he loved so much.  CK split a double-header with ND Prep.  Evan Homovec paved the way in game 1 with 13 strikeouts in a  7 - 2 victory.  The ND Prep bats came alive in game 2 as they salvaged victory with a 6 - 2 win.

ND Prep outdone by Hoffman and Cranbrook Kingswood, 7-2
 
Troy Hoffman went 2-4, helping Cranbrook Kingswood to a 7-2 victory over ND Prep on Friday at Cranbrook.
He singled in the first inning and tripled in the sixth inning.    
                            
Evan Homovec worked out of 24 tough spots for Cranbrook Kingswood. He pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run on three hits. Homovec faced his toughest situation in the sixth inning.

Cranbrook Kingswood falls to ND Prep 6-2 in spite of Applebaum's performance

Spencer Applebaum
did all he could to give Cranbrook Kingswood a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past ND Prep, as Cranbrook Kingswood lost 6-2 in seven innings at Cranbrook on Friday.

Cranbrook Kingswood was led by Applebaum's hitting. Applebaum went 1-3 and scored one run. He singled in the first inning.

Wood, Zahouny and Peters helped lead ND Prep. They combined for four hits and five RBIs.

In the bottom of the first, Cranbrook Kingswood grabbed the early lead, 2-0. Applebaum kicked things off for Cranbrook Kingswood with a single. Then a sacrifice fly by Evan Homovec scored Troy Hoffman. The scoreboard lit up again for Cranbrook Kingswood when Applebaum scored on an error.

ND Prep went up for good in the second, scoring three runs on an RBI single by Zahouny and a two-run triple by Peters.

ND Prep put up one run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh. In the fifth, ND Prep scored on an RBI double by Wood, plating Zahouny.
