Cranbrook fans had just gotten to their seats in time to watch the visiting Vikings of Detroit Urban Lutheran jump to a commanding 10-1 lead over the first 6 minutes of play. It seemed as if this was going to be a long suffering night.
But the Cranes were not to be denied and spent the next 40 seconds closing the gap through a frenzied 9-0 run. After tying the score at 10-10, as the end of the quarter approached, the Cranes took a 14-12 lead.
Lead by the 19 points of Sterling Morrow, who shot an unbelievable 100% in 2 pointers, 3 pointers and free throws attempted. That's right, he did not miss a shot all night, the Cranes steadily increased their lead at the half to 32-14 and went on a 23-8 run in the third and coupled that with another 12 points in the fourth to finish 67-36.
Coach Finney fully utilized his bench, insuring that every available player participated in this victory. As for scoring, also in double figures was Steven Morrow at 13 pts, followed by Vlasic - 8, McGlothin - 6, David - 5, Relle and Chapman - 4, Rouff, Berry, Burch and Lis - 2. Leading rebounders were Vlasic - 6, David - 5, and Lagrasso - 3.
As for shooting efficiency, Sterling Morrow was joined by other 100% shooters including Chapman, McGlothin, Relle and Lis.
The Cranes now take a short holiday break before appearing in the Clawson Tournament on Dec 28 - 29 with a 7 pm tip off for their opening game.
