CK Girls Swimming and Diving Give Groves a Run for Their Money
The Cranbrook Kingswood girls' swimming and diving team kept the pressure on D2 swimming powerhouse Groves throughout their dual meet at the Williams Natatorium. The CK girls showed their competitive drive, matching Groves point for point up through the seventh event of the meet. Groves managed to dig deep in the latter events and win the meet with a score of 110-76. Highlights included first place finishes for Kylie Powrie in the 200 freestyle and Alexa Resetar in the 100 backstroke events. Sterling Keiser took first place in the diving event. Several new personal best times were achieved. Molly Laubernds shaved time from her 100 free, as did Ariana Sauber. Julia Briggs swam a personal best in the 50 free event and Emme Reasoner cut ten seconds from her top finish in the 500 freestyle event. Larissa Sambel earned a state cut in the 200 freestyle event. The proliferation of fast swims and excellent dives already this season means that the CK team will be well-represented at the upcoming Oakland County meet, where they will face the area's fastest swimmers and divers October 1-2.
