Jordan Broder, CK '05, Performs with MSU Piano Quartet
Violinist Jordan Broder, CK '05, visited Page Hall today with his piano quartet at Michigan State University to perform Gabriel Faure's Piano Quartet No. 2 in g minor, Op. 45. Orchestra students and faculty members were treated to a wonderful performance by these young musicians.
After their performance, the members of the piano quartet introduced themselves to the orchestra students and answered questions about the piece, Faure, chamber music, and music school in general. Because the first piano quartet by Faure, a French composer, is commonly performed, Jordan and his fellow musicians chose to perform the less familiar second piano quartet.
Jordan commented that he enjoyed the opportunity to come back to Cranbrook and play in Page Hall. A Cranbrook "lifer," Jordan played in both band and orchestra from 4th through 12th grade under the batons of Band Instructor Janet Kapala, Performing Arts Director Sarkis Halajian, and Orchestra Instructor Katie Lorts.
Jordan is a senior and a violin performance major at the MSU College of Music. While first violinist of the Cranbrook String Quartet, Jordan's ensemble was recognized as the top Michigan high school string quartet in 2004 and 2005. After graduating from Cranbrook, Jordan was selected by The Detroit News as Michigan's Outstanding Graduate in the Performing Arts.
