Elizabeth Bennett Faculty Grant Reading to be held October 1

The annual Elizabeth Bennett Reading will be held on Tuesday evening October 1 at the Cranbrook Library Reading Room. Students, faculty, alumni and friends are invited to join  us for a reception with faculty writing grant recipients Audrey Bourriaud and Gania Barlow from 6-7pm, followed by select readings from their summer work.

The readings will provide a sampling of the work that these two faculty members took on this summer as recipients of the Elizabeth Bennett Writing Grant, now in its 40th year. The purpose of the grant is to provide recipients with opportunities to pursue personal writing projects, and recipients commit to a two year writing project, as proposed in their application.  The readings have been held since 1994. The grant is named for Kingswood English teacher Elizabeth Bennett. From 1936 to 1968 she inspired her Kingswood students with a reverence for the written word.
