Welcoming the Lunar New Year

Brookside students recently welcomed the Lunar New Year, celebrated in China, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, and elsewhere.  In alignment with the school’s Mandarin curriculum in the ECC and 1st grade, we were excited for the children in these grade levels to participate in a Lunar New Year Festival on Friday, February 9th.

During the morning's festivities, children enjoyed delicious traditional foods such as dumplings and candied fruits, played traditional games, tried their hands at brush painting Chinese characters, and more.  We were thrilled that a group of Upper School Mandarin students also visited to help with the festival, and several even performed on traditional Chinese instruments. What a wonderful way to welcome the Year of the Dragon!

We appreciate the parent volunteers who supported the experience, as well as our faculty who planned this memorable and delightful celebration.

We hope the Lunar New Year brings peace, happiness, and comfort to your family!
