Cranbrook Robotics Teams Advance to State, World Championships

In the world of competitive robotics, the local qualification season is coming to a close soon, and the Michigan VRC High School State Championships and Michigan VRC Middle School State Championships are approaching quickly. Multiple Cranbrook teams have already qualified to compete at state and world tournaments.

The Road to the Championships
Cranbrook teams swept the top three awards at the most recent state qualifying event, with two of our CK Teams partnering to win Tournament Champions and another of our CK Teams winning first in Skills.

Congratulations to Teams 39H (Steve, Summer, Hriday, Rishi, Sanjay, and Sophia T.) and 39Y (Albert, Simon, Thomas, Mandy, Terrance, Lauren, and Qiyun) for winning the Tournament Champions Award, and Congratulations to Team 39Z (Aarav, Dev, Kevin, Nadir, Shriram, Nabhah, Srinidhi, and Vik) for winning the Robot Skills Champions Award.

Headed to States
Nine of our Upper School VRC teams – 39C, 39D, 39H, 39J, 39K, 39R, 39X, 39Y, 39Z – have qualified for their State Championship. Likewise, both of our Middle School VRC teams – 38A and 38T – have qualified for their State Championship!

If a team wins a qualifying award at the Michigan State Championship, they will receive an invitation to attend the World Championship in Dallas, Texas.

The Michigan State High School State Championship will take place at Kettering University on Saturday, February 23. The Michigan State Middle School State Championship will take place in Grandville on Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17.

International Competition – Headed to the World Championships!
Two Upper School robotics teams traveled to Toronto this past weekend to participate in the Canadian Open Signature Event, a high-level event that attracts some of the strongest teams across Canada and the USA. Winners from this event earned invitations straight to the World Championship in Dallas, Texas superseding the need to qualify at their respective State and Regional Championships.

Both of our teams won awards at the event and qualified for the VRC High School World Championships. Congratulations to Team 39C (Ryan L., Sophia Y., Lukas, and Ivy) for winning the Amaze Award and Robot Skills Champions.

This accomplishment is a first for a Cranbrook team. We are very proud of these students for all their hard work!
