Cranbrook Debate Excels Again in Two State Tournaments

Once again, the Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School debate team did well in two states during the same weekend.

On December 16, CK students participated in the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association (MIFA) Debate State Finals at Wayne State University.

In the Novice Division, Marina Awad and Toluwani Adebayo took Third Place. In the Varsity Division, Alex Wang and Ori Shi made it to finals and took Second Place in the state.

Meanwhile, sixteen students set out to debate at the Blake Debate Tournament in downtown Minneapolis.  It is one of the largest debate tournaments in the country, and one of the best. There is no novice division. Cranbrook took twelve freshmen and four sophomores to see what it is like to compete against the best. It was a learning experience, and the students had a good time bonding.

Lewen Feng and Pingkang Qian went down 2-1 against the third seeded team in the tournament, earning themselves a Silver Bid to the Tournament of Champions in the spring!
