Over the summer, sad news came to the alumni office of the loss of former Cranbrook Kingswood teacher Connie Robinson. Connie taught math and religion from 1985 to 2000. Along with her husband and fellow faculty member David Robinson, she founded the crew program at Cranbrook in 1997 which is now a thriving varsity sport.
Here is an excerpt from the upcoming Former Faculty column from her colleague Charlie Shaw:
In Augusta number of former faculty and friends celebrated a beautiful committal service for CONNIE ROBINSON at Christ Church Cranbrook. The service was lovingly planned by her husbandandformerheadoftheReligionDepartment,DAVIDROBINSON.Conniewasabeloved teacher of math and religion. Connie worked tirelessly for students in crisis and would refer to her classes as “math therapy.” She and David campaigned over many years to found a competitive rowing team at CK. Starting as a rowing club, the program was built shell by shell by the two. In retirement Connie continued her work as an ordained Episcopal minister and sharpened her wood-working skills.
Donations in Connie's memory may be made to The Constance Wiegmann Robinson Scholarship Fund at Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School, 39221 Woodward Avenue, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48303.
