CK Teacher, Student Recognized by Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit

Dr. Stephanie Kokoszka named Teacher of the Year, Michelle Hua receives Weizmann Institute of Science Award.

Two members of the Cranbrook Schools community have been recognized by The Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit (SEFMD). Upper School Science teacher Dr. Stephanie Kokoszka has been recognized as Teacher of the Year as named by the Engineering Society of Detroit Affiliate Council. CK Senior Michelle Hua has been awarded the Weizmann Institute of Science Award.

The awards were presented at the same time by the two co-directors for SEFMD, Tim Fino and Kathy Kitzmann, in a surprise ceremony that took place before the assembled faculty and administration of Cranbrook Schools who had come together for a day of professional development.

Kokoszka’s award recognizes her exemplary work with Cranbrook students in various science fairs. The award honors “an outstanding individual that promotes science and engineering to her or his students and actively promotes the Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit (SEFMD).”

Senior Michelle Hua, currently a finalist in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, is the recipient of the Weizmann Institute of Science Award, and will be able to spend 4 weeks with 25 other international students in Israel, all expenses paid, in July. The Weizmann Institute of Science “is a public research university in Rehovot, Israel, established in 1934, 14 years before the State of Israel. As of 2019, six Nobel laureates and three Turing Award winners have been associated with the Weizmann Institute of Science.”

Congratulations to both on their outstanding recognition.
