Amazing Weekend for CK Athletes as Cranes Take Two State Titles!

Two Cranbrook Schools teams finished out their seasons with state championships on the same weekend. 
Girls’ Golf
 
At the MHSAA State Championships, hosted at Forest Akers Michigan State, the competition faced challenging conditions after heavy rains from the day before, but Cranbrook held their own after day one and carried an 8-stroke lead into the day two finals shooting 344.
 
In the second round, things tightened up but the Cranes Team came through like they had all season shooting 350 and finished the tournament with a 6-stroke lead over Grosse Ile to win the Division 3 MHSAA State Championship for the 3rd time in CK history and the first since 2006.
 
Individually, Natasha Samsonov led the Cranes shooting 163 for the two days to place 6th overall to medal. Ashley Cong and Sienna Ilitch both shot 175 for the tournament to tie for 16th. Katherine Lee shot 186 and Mackenzie Behnke shot 189 to round out the scoring.
 
Boys’ Tennis
 
The MHSAA State Championships were hosted at Midland, CK entered the Tournament ranked first. On day one, seven or our 8 flights advanced to the semifinals to set the stage for a very competitive day two!
 
On day two, six of our seven flights advanced to the finals and three of those flights won their flight championship. After the dust settled, the Cranes Team scored 32 points, to top Country Day and Greenhills to win the MHSAA State Championship for the 6th time in the past seven years.
 
Individually, Caden Che #4 singles, Jacob Coburn and Sebs Taubman #2 doubles, and Andrew Fink and Ryan Michaels #3 doubles were State Champions in their flight. Owen DeMuth #1 singles, Patrick Tiwari #3 singles, and Aryan Tiwari and Praneel Pillarisetty #4 doubles were State Runners-Up in their flights.
