Cranes headed to MHSAA State Tournament with a victory in Regionals

The Cranes’ Golf Team traveled to Pontiac CC in Waterford Wednesday morning as they began their MHSAA championship season with the Regional 18 Tournament. A field of 10 teams competed for the top 3 spots which would earn them a berth in next weekends D3 State Championship. A waterlogged golf course awaited the field - a result of several days of steady rainfall - and the players were given instructions that in equity they would be allowed to compete under “lift/clean &place” provisions. The teams swung it out through the tough conditions and Cranbrook came out with the victory. The Cranes 324 total earned them the Regional Championship and top qualifying spot. Also qualifying were CHSL co-members Lutheran North (338) and Marian (349). The Cranes Placed 5 players in the top 8. Natasha Samsonov (76) - 2nd Individually Ashley Cong (77) - 3rd Katherine Li (85) - T 6th Sienna Ilitch (86) - T 8th Mackenzie Behnke (86) - T 8th. The Cranes will now travel to the campus of Michigan State University were they will wrap up their 2021 Season. They will compete on Forest Akers West Course in the 36 hole MHSAA D3 State Championship. Tournament dates are Friday and Saturday 10/15-10/16 - 10 am Start time each day.
