Cranbrook Takes Third in State at Chess Championship

On Saturday February 24th eight Cranbrook students participated in the High School Chess Team Championships for the State of Michigan, earning third place in the high school division. The competition took place at the Oakland Center on the campus of Oakland University.

This is a fixed roster team vs team event where teams of 4 players from the same school compete against other schools. Trophies are awarded to the teams and medals are awarded to individual players based on the number of points accumulated during match play.  Each team member played 4 games, some of which lasted over one hour.

The chess club has met weekly this year in preparation for the event.

Congratulations to then entire team!
