Cranes Win Home Opener
The JV Cranes defended home turf, defeating Fr. Gabriel Richard by a score of 5-3. The Irish opened the scoring in the first half, finishing a shot from long range. The Cranes quickly answered when Pingkang Qian found Sebastian Feles on the wing, who crossed a ball to Austin Chabie for the finish. Shortly before halftime, CK struck again, this time on a left footed strike from Pingkang Qian.
The second half included even more scoring, first by the Cranes with a brace from Pingkang Qian. Fr. Gabriel Richard scored twice in quick succession to level the match at 3-3, but CK once again responded quickly off of a finish from Derek Forsberg. With under 5 minutes remaining, Allan Wang found Charlie Stamell who poked the ball past the Irish goalkeeper, securing the victory for Cranbrook.
The 1-2-0 Cranes will travel to Ann Arbor to square off against Greenhills on Thursday, Aug. 31st.
