Hollywood Calling: Three Alumni Offer Unique Entertainment Experience in Support of Cranbrook Schools
Three Cranbrook Kingswood alumni—each a creative force in the entertainment industry—are giving back to the community that helped shape their path. Bill Prady ’77, Rob Edwards ’81, and David Baxter ’82 have come together to offer an unforgettable Hollywood experience as a featured item in the live auction at Cranbrook Schools’ Window to the World gala on May 10, 2025.
This remarkable offering is more than just a behind-the-scenes look at the entertainment industry—it’s a celebration of shared roots, creative journeys, and the power of giving back. All three alumni are donating their time and access to this exclusive experience in support of Cranbrook Schools and its students.
The Experience: The winning bidder will receive round-trip domestic airfare for two on Delta Air Lines, a luxurious lunch in Beverly Hills with Baxter, Edwards, and Prady, and a private VIP tour of Warner Bros. Studios. Along the way, they’ll get insider stories and career insights from three alumni who have helped shape some of the most beloved films and television shows of the last few decades.
The Hosts:
Rob Edwards ’81 is a screenwriter and producer with a dazzling résumé that includes Disney’s Treasure Planet and The Princess and the Frog, along with hit television shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, In Living Color, and Full House. This year, he made waves in the Marvel universe as the first writer on Captain America: Brave New World. Rob is also a published graphic novelist and an adjunct professor at USC, where he mentors the next generation of screenwriters. Edwards currently serves as a Cranbrook Schools governor.
Bill Prady ’77 is best known as the co-creator of The Big Bang Theory, but his influence stretches across the television landscape, from Dharma & Greg to Gilmore Girls to Star Trek: Voyager. His career began in an unexpected place—writing for You Can’t Do That on Television—and grew to encompass some of the most iconic comedies and variety programs in recent history.
David Baxter ’82, CEO of Larger Than Life Entertainment, has spent more than 30 years in Hollywood as a producer, screenwriter, and development executive. His recent work includes My Dead Friend Zoe and You Can Call Me Bill, a documentary on William Shatner. A two-time recipient of Tribeca Film Institute screenwriting grants, Baxter brings both storytelling depth and a passion for science and history to his projects. He's also a former national fencing champion and Olympic sparring partner—proof that his talents extend beyond the screen.
The generosity of these three alumni is not only a tribute to their shared Cranbrook experience, but a powerful gesture of support for the next generation. Proceeds from the Window to the World gala will go directly toward Cranbrook Schools’ educational programs, ensuring that future students continue to benefit from the same opportunities that shaped the lives of Edwards, Prady, and Baxter.
This one-of-a-kind offering is a rare blend of Hollywood glamour and heartfelt philanthropy—and a reminder that no matter how far our alumni travel, Cranbrook continues to bring them home.
