Cranbrook Schools’ Model United Nations (MUN) Team was awarded a host of honors for their hard work and performance during a recent conference.
The team’s thirty-seven enthusiastic and talented members attended the Canadian-American Security Council Model United Nations conference in Lansing the first weekend in December. Over 600 students were in attendance at this very competitive regional meet, which includes high schools from the Midwest and Canada.
In addition to engaging in active and passionate debates, researching topics, forming alliances, making speeches, and writing resolutions, Cranbrook’s MUN club earned nine awards. Charlie Panfil, Taeyoung Han, Isy Osubor, Kevin Sang, Juliette Raymond, and Grace Wang were each recognized with highest honors as the best delegates in their committees. Charlie represented Egypt in Arab League, Taeyoung represented Cyprus in European Union, Isy represented France in European Union, Kevin represented Latvia in European Union, Juliette represented Canada in North Atlantic Treaty Alliance, and Grace presented France in Security Council. Ben Iorio, Andrew Ladi, and freshmen Kareem Rifai all received 2nd honors for representing Hungary in EU, France in NATO, and Italy in ECOSOC.
The advisors for the MUN club are Ms. Joanne Parker and Mr. Mark Karinen. Both teach in the history department.
Congratulations to everyone involved with this event!
