Upper School District Music Festival Results
The results for the upper school instrumental and vocal festivals find many CK Upper School students headed to state competition.
The Michigan Schools Band and Orchestra Association’s (MSBOA) District Solo and Ensemble Upper School Festival was held at Hartland High School on February 1, 2014.
All first division soloists and ensembles are eligible for the state festival which takes place on March 22, 2014. All students who received a I (superior) or II (very good) rating received a medal for their performances. The rating scale ranges from I to V.
The MSBOA is a professional association of over 1300 instrumental music teachers in Michigan Schools. Founded on a single-district basis in 1934, it was grown to a 16 regional district basis in both peninsulas, serving over 1200 public, parochial and private schools. Each year over 60,000 students in Michigan participate in MSBOA festivals either individually or as part of a larger group.

The Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association’s (MSVMA) Vocal District Solo & Ensemble was held on Friday and Saturday January 24 and 25 at Howell High school in Howell, Michigan. There were twenty-two singers who participated from all three of our choral groups, plus our Madrigals and a combination of select Madrigals and MasterSingers who performed under the name Cranbrook Chamber Choir.
Singers are eligible to participate in STATE VOCAL Solo & Ensemble if they receive EITHER a Superior or Excellent rating.
