CK Finishes 3rd at State Meet

The Division III State Meet was held on November 16th and 17th at the Holland Aquatic Center with 48 teams competing. Placed 4th going into the final relay, CK swam a great race and captured the 3rd place trophy!  Marian won the state meet and East Grand Rapids finished 2nd.
CK had a great start to the meet by winning the 200 Medley Relay.  The relay team of Maeve McHugh, Rachel Dekar, Joanie Burton and Taylor Abbott finished with the time of 1:49.51, an Automatic All-American time.  The 200 Free Relay (Taylor Abbott, Alex Miller, Rosemary O'Connor, Anna Brown) tied for 6th place.  The 400 Freestyle Relay (Joanie Burton, Anna Brown, Rachel Dekar, Maeve McHugh) took 3rd place.
CK swimmers took top honors in three individual events.  Rachel Dekar won the 200 I.M.(2:11.73) and the 100 Breaststroke(1:04.88).  She achieved an Automatic All-American time in the breaststroke and is 1st place All-Division in the event. Maeve McHugh won the 100 Backstroke (59.00) and placed 2nd in the 100 Free.  Anna Brown placed 8th in the 200 Free and 12th in the 500 Free.  Taylor Abbott took 14th place in the 50 Free, Brie Sherer took 14th in the 100 Backstroke and Joanie Burton placed 16th in the 100 Fly. Great meet girls!!!!
