Boys Middle School Groundbreaking a Resounding Success!

The rain held off on Sunday, May 20, 2007 for the much-anticipated Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Boys Middle School Renovation Project. Attended by 140 donors and their families - most of whom are Schools parents and alumni - the groundbreaking included a buffet brunch and program and ceremonial photographs outside on the site of the new gymnasium. All donors to the project were thanked, and seventeen families who gave $100,000 or more were specially recognized for their generosity. Two special announcements of the day included the recognition of the lead donors, Stephen and Bobbi Polk, who gave $2 million in 2005 and inspired many others to give and reach the $8 million fundraising goal. The 2nd announcement was a total surprise to its recipients - the new 2-story lobby in the Boys Middle School was dedicated to long-term beloved faculty members, Fran and Prospero Dagbovie, with generosity from the Ghesquiere, Gordon, and Groth families. It was a wonderful celebration for all who attended. The actual project renovation begins on June 11, 2007 with full completion in time for the 2008-09 school year.
