The Cranbrook Cranes scored 3 out of the 4 times they had the ball in the first half and then watched the defense shut down Lutheran Westland to earn its second straight shutout as they won their third straight game 20 - 0. The Cranes took the opening kickoff and marched 75-yards in 8 plays as QB Daniel DuComb hit Dakota Sherman on a 14-yard scoring toss. Other big plays in the drive included DuComb opening up the game with a 35-yard bomb to Sherman and Sherman passing to CuComb for 16 yards out of the Chaos offense. The kick failed and Cranbrook quickly led 6 - 0. The defense stuffed the Warriors in 4 plays and forced a poor Westland punt. The Cranes needed only 1 play, a 31-yard touchdown run by DuComb (3 rushes, 45 yards) to up the score to 12 - 0. DuComb followed the great blocking of Bello Pizzimenti and Jordan Kaye to score his touchdown. A DuComb to Sherman pass scored the 2-point conversion and at the end of the first quarter, Cranbrook was ahead 14 - 0. The defense continued to thwart the Warriors running attack and they were forced to rely upon a rather weak passing attack. With 3 minutes left in the first half, the Cranes took over the ball on downs on their own 26-yard line. Sherman took over at quarterback, took the snap from Game Ball winner George Tepe, and ambled 76 yards for another Crane's score. Ben Momon threw the pivotal block to spring Sherman. The kick failed again and the Cranes led 20 - 0 at half. The defense stuffed Westland time and time again in the second half to keep their shutout. Game Ball winner Andrew Kaye intercepted a Warrior double pass when it looked like he was beat deep. DuComb raced after a Warrior who had gotten behind the Cranes' defense and stripped him of the ball which was recovered by linebacker Jimmy LaHood. Jordan Kaye rushed the passer so fast he was in the backfield and caused a fumble which Dominic Babb covered. The Hit-Of-The-Day was delivered by Nick Guttman who absolutely leveled the Warrior quarterback. Ttre'Dez Colbert delivered three assists at nose guard. Reserve quarterback Damon Drew had his best run of the year, a 16-yarder in the fourth quarter as well.
