Sixth Grade Girls

The primary goal of the sixth-grade trip is to have the girls bond as a class and to give them a common experience on which to build. Since almost half the class is new to Cranbrook and since the girls come to us with a wide variety of away-from-home experiences, we feel a planned experience is essential.

The sixth grade Winter Trip occurs at the end of February or the beginning of March. Sixth grade girls and their teachers head for Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs, Michigan for a week of outdoor activities.

During the day, girls are grouped with Boyne certified instructors for snow shoeing, tubing, and skiing adventures. At the conclusion of the week, all girls participate with their ski groups in a downhill ski race for their own personal best time. Each girl is awarded a trophy or medal.

Every evening, girls have night school. The after-dinner hours are filled with "school" activities such as winter themed mini-classes, International Olympics, ice sculpture creations, Battle of the Books, puppet shows, and movies. The girls also have après-ski use of the heated outdoor pool!

All Middle School for Girls students and staff are lodged at Boyne Highlands and enjoy three delicious buffet meals each day. Positive group dynamics and personal growth are the results of this trip. This week has proven through the years to be the maker of many marvelous middle school memories!
