Whitley Granberry ’06 is Associate General Counsel at Wayne State University, where she supports the institution across a range of transactional and legal matters. A graduate of Cranbrook from Brookside through Upper School, Granberry was a Booth Award recipient, class president, Madrigals singer, dancer, and Wilderness Expedition leader—earning praise from faculty for her character, compassion, and commitment to social justice. She studied English and comparative literature at Columbia University before earning her J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law. Granberry previously served as a Senior Staff Attorney at the Detroit Justice Center, where she became a statewide expert on worker-owned cooperatives and community land trusts. Named one of Crain’s Notable Women in Law in 2021, she is recognized for her sharp legal mind and deep dedication to equity. In 2023, she returned to campus as the Baccalaureate keynote speaker, inspiring graduates to lead with purpose and integrity.
