Alec Regula

Alec Regula ’18 made a lasting impression at Cranbrook Kingswood as a standout defenseman during his freshman and sophomore years, helping lead the Cranes to the 2015 state championship game and recording 6 goals and 25 assists over 54 games. His poise, hockey IQ, and natural athleticism quickly set him apart. “All he needed was an opportunity to play and develop,” said longtime CK coach Andy Weidenbach. “Cranbrook was a good match, and he did a great job.” When asked for his favorite youth hockey moment, Regula had a quick answer “I think my No. 1 was winning a state championship with Cranbrook. That was awesome, my freshman year, and that’s kind of when my career started picking up. That was an awesome feeling, something I’ll remember forever.” Regula left Cranbrook after his sophomore year to pursue hockey full time, joining the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League and later being selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2018 NHL Draft. He has since played within the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins systems and has been playing under contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
