Cranbrook Schools Ranked Among the Very Best in the U.S.

New accolades continue to highlight Cranbrook’s national and international reputation as a destination for exceptional educational and cultural experiences. On the heels of Cranbrook’s three-star Michelin rating in Detroit’s first Michelin Green Guide, the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) ICON Award, and NICHE’s ranking of Cranbrook Schools as the number one private K–12 school in Michigan, the school has now been recognized by Money, Inc. as one of the 30 best high schools, public or private, in the United States.

Among America’s best high schools
Figures from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) put the total number of public and private high schools in the United States at more than 27,000. Against this backdrop, Money, Inc.  cites the school’s “stunning 319-acre campus” as well as its rigorous academic standards, small class sizes, outstanding AP program, and notable alumni as reasons for our honors.

According to the article, Cranbrook Schools “has established itself as one of the premier educational institutions in the United States.”

Cranbrook shares this recognition with other powerhouse high schools from around the country, including Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia, Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, and Bronx High School of Science in New York.

It is the only school in Michigan to make the list and one of only five in the Midwest. Likewise, Cranbrook is the only member school from the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) to be ranked in Money Inc.’s top 30, which is comprised of 240 independent schools across thirteen states. The entire list is available here.

Among America’s best K-12 and boarding schools
This recognition is in addition to Cranbrook’s perennial ranking as the top private school in Michigan, and one of the best in the nation, according to ranking juggernaut Niche.

Niche, which has developed an expansive database for public and private schools across the country, uses a combination of empirical data and verified user reviews for its sophisticated ranking system. Cranbrook Schools’ best-in-state ranking was recently featured on CBS News Detroit.

Niche ranks Cranbrook as the top private high school, top private K-12 school, top boarding school, and number one private school overall in Michigan. The school is the highest-ranked private K-12 program in the entire Midwest.

Niche has introduced a new category this year, “Best Boarding K-12 Schools.” Cranbrook is exceptionally strong in this category, coming in at number six in the nation and number one in the state.

Niche rankings are particularly significant as they include real-world input shared by students, alumni, and current and past parents. This makes the ranking an important measure of student and parent satisfaction with the school.
