Cranbrook Coding Team Tops in State at "Bulldog Battles" Competition
Cranbrook Schools’ computer coding team are the winners of the first-ever Bulldog Battles Championship, a state-wide competition presented by Kettering University and sponsored by Ford Motor Company.
Hosted by Kettering University’s Computer Science Department, Bulldog Battles is a series of dynamic weekday competitions designed to immerse high school students in a collaborative, team-based coding environment. These battles pit teams from different schools against one another in thrilling head-to-head programming challenges.
Coached by Upper School Computer Science Teacher Dr. Kieren Reynolds, the team was a force to be reckoned with throughout the season. According to Kettering, “Built to push students like future engineers, Bulldog Battles is where creativity meets competition. Cranbrook didn’t just show up — they dominated.”
Kettering awarded individual medals to each team member, plus unveiled the inaugural Bulldog Battles trophy, at a surprise ceremony at Cranbrook last week. Presenters included Chuck Gray, VP of Vehicle Hardware Engineering at Ford and Kettering alum, who shared words of encouragement and inspiration from his own journey.
The event was live streamed for students’ families who could not be in attendance. Watch the recording of the awards event here.
