Seattle alumni reconnected this January for an evening that marked the region’s first official Cranbrook gathering in more than a decade. Hosted by the Seattle Cranbrook Regional Alumni Network (CRAN), the event brought together graduates spanning nearly six decades at Elliott’s Oyster House on Pier 56.
Attendees enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and drinks while reconnecting with former classmates and meeting fellow alumni living and working across the Pacific Northwest. The setting, one of Seattle’s most iconic waterfront destinations, offered the perfect atmosphere for lively discussion and meaningful introductions.
The strong, multi-generational turnout reflected the depth and reach of the Cranbrook network. For long-time alumni, the evening offered a chance to reconnect; for more recent graduates and those new to the region, it created opportunities to build new relationships grounded in shared experience. Among those in attendance were longtime Seattle CRAN representative Terry Goldberg Axelrod ’67; this year’s Distinguished Alumnus, Mark Davidson ’86; and two recent graduates and current University of Washington students, Madeliene Majeske ’24 and Ava Stone ’25. Holly McCollum Paige '74 made the trip up from Portland and was delighted to cach up with Elaine Field ’73. Alumni enjoyed seeing friends from their era and meeting fellow alumni from across the decades.
Throughout the two-hour gathering, conversations flowed easily, from reflections on campus traditions and shared faculty mentors to professional journeys and new opportunities in the region. For many, the evening was a chance to reconnect after years apart. For others, especially recent graduates and those new to the Seattle area, it was an opportunity to build fresh relationships grounded in a shared Cranbrook experience.
Members of the Seattle CRAN community also shared their vision for strengthening alumni engagement in the Pacific Northwest. With enthusiastic participation and meaningful connections formed throughout the evening, the gathering marked a renewed beginning for Seattle-area alumni—and a promising sign of more opportunities to come.
