Alumni in the CK Classrooms: Ellen Levy '75 and Robb Aikens '85

This fall alumni returned to the classroom, sharing their skills and experiences. Ellen Levy '75 joined Mike German's Creative Non-Fiction class to talk about her newly published work "A Book About Ray," and Robb Aikens '85 spent the day speaking to John Twedt's anatomy classes about his work as a physical therapist.
Ellen Levy '75 read an excerpt from her book, which is the first full-career survey of the idiosyncratic life and work of Ray Johnson, a collagist, performance artist, and pioneer of mail art who was born in Detroit on October 16, 1927. She explained how she traced  Levy will Johnson’s career from his early days at Cass Tech in Detroit to his time at Black Mountain College to his final years, exploring his playful and elusive relationship with art and poetry. The writing students, who are studying and working on biographical pieces, had the opportunity to ask Levy questions about her writing process and the road to the publication of the book.
