Peyton North
Class of 2011
Textile Designer, Creative Innovator
Peyton North ’11 is a senior designer at Pollack, a boutique textile studio in New York City known for its artful, hand-rendered fabrics for interiors. A Cranbrook lifer, North attended from Brookside through her senior year and credits a ninth-grade weaving class—chosen on a whim—with setting her creative path in motion. Guided by the encouragement of faculty members like Lynn Bennett-Carpenter and surrounded by a campus that cultivated both artistic exploration and natural beauty, North discovered a deep love for pattern, texture, and material storytelling. Her time at Cranbrook, along with the influence of her mother and grandmother—both passionate about sewing, gardening, and design—nurtured her sensitivity to color, form, and detail. After earning her BFA in textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design, North launched her career in New York, where she now leads design on collections like Spring Street and Yarn Story, drawing inspiration from Michigan landscapes and everyday botanicals. Her work, grounded in curiosity and craft, brings warmth and nature indoors—carrying forward the spirit of the spaces that first inspired her.
