Jordan Smith

Class of 2007
Chef-Owner,
Culinary Creative
Jordan Smith ’07 is the chef-owner of Coeur, a celebrated restaurant in Ferndale known for its fine dining rooted in classical technique, seasonal Michigan ingredients, and an inventive, approachable spirit. A Culinary Institute of America graduate with experience in top kitchens across the country, Smith returned to the Detroit area to open Coeur in 2023, crafting menus that blend technical precision with personal storytelling—think elevated comfort foods like house-made cordon bleu or a tasting menu inspired by fast food. At Cranbrook, Smith was a curious, creative student who found lasting inspiration in the School’s liberal arts ethos and deep appreciation for craft. He brings that same passion and sense of purpose to Coeur, where he aims not only to deliver unforgettable meals but also to help transform the hospitality industry—empowering skilled workers, celebrating artistry, and creating space for joy.
