The
Crane-Clarion, the school’s student newspaper, was awarded a Gold Crown in the High School Print News category. This marks only the second Gold Crown in the publication’s history, with the first coming in 2018. It was one of only five high-school print newspapers in the nation to be awarded the top honor this year.
Gallimaufry, Cranbrook’s student-run arts and literary magazine, also earned a Gold Crown in the High School Print Literary Magazine category, its second consecutive win. The magazine has been recognized many times over the years by the CSPA and boasts an impressive decade-long streak of Gold or Silver Crown recognition. A special event at this year's Alumni Reunion will honor the legacy of the publication at Cranbrook Schools.
The
CSPA Crown Awards represent the premier honor for overall excellence in student print and digital media, evaluating design, photography, writing, coverage, and concept.
In individual categories, Cranbrook student Yushi Bai placed third nationally for his photograph of the 2024 powderpuff game (“Powderpuff Seniors Rushing Attacks Overwhelm Juniors”) and received an honorable mention for a portfolio of his news photographs.
Congratulations to students and faculty alike for continuing the remarkable tradition of outstanding quality and national recognition for both publications.
