Cranbrook Students Break Records of National Medals from the 2016 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Four Cranbrook Kingswood students have received a combined total of seven National Medals for creative works submitted to the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, a new record for Upper School student medalists.

69 Cranbrook Upper School students have been awarded recognition at this year’s regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. This is the highest number of awards that have ever been bestowed at the Upper School level, an increase of approximately 7.5% from the previous years.

Of these awardees, the following students have received National Medals:
Daniel Feinbloom: Silver Medal, Art Portfolio. Teacher Senghor Reid.
Nicole Heppard: Silver Medal, Mixed Media; Silver Medal, Art Portfolio. Teachers Lynn Bennett Carpenter and Darlene Earls.
Simone Rosseau: Silver Medal, Future New; Gold Medal, Future New; Silver Medal, Art Portfolio. Teachers Lynn Bennett Carpenter and Darlene Earls.
Apolloniya Vlasova: Silver Medal, Photography. Teacher Gary Kulak.

Since its foundation in 1923, The National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the largest and most long-standing recognition program for exceptionally creative students in grades 7 through 12. Schools throughout the United States, Canada, and American schools abroad submit over 150,000 works of student artwork and writing for evaluation by professionals, educators, and scholars of the fine arts.
