Nola-rae Cronan, Cranbrook Middle School for Girls’ Dean of Students, has been awarded status as a TED-Ed Innovative Teacher and member of the TED-Ed Innovative Teacher Program.
Cronan is one of only twenty-five educators world-wide who have been invited to participate in the program.
The aim of program is for these educators to be trained in the utilization of state-of-the-art virtual technology and media to engage their students to think and learn in comprehensive and innovative ways.
The program is supported by TED, a non-profit organization which strives for the global sharing of ideas and information. Providing lectures and virtual content, TED reaches people across the globe through virtual lectures and online resources. Topics covered by TED resources are various, from the fields of the arts and sciences to business and global issues.
TED-Ed Innovative Teachers are trained on how to engage student curiosity through the use of TED-Ed digital curriculae and resources. Following eight weeks of training, these individuals will provide outreach to their respective academic communities for the further exploration of community-wide instruction on new teaching and learning techniques.
Cronan has already begun bringing TED’s vision to Cranbrook. She played an integral role in bringing TEDx to Cranbrook, hosted by the CranbrookSchoolsWomen organization. Now in its second year, the event took place on May 28th at the Cranbrook Institute of Science and featured lectures by speakers alumni, faculty, and students from Cranbrook Schools. Following this lecture series was livestream footage from the global TEDWomen Conference, which provided a host of female speakers the opportunity to present bold ideas about feminism, education, and activism.
Congratulations to Nola-rae for her incredible achievement!
