Remembering Dr. Chuck Geroux

News of the loss of DR. CHUCK GEROUX came our way just before Reunion 2023. Here is an excerpt from an upcoming Former Faculty column by his colleague Charlie Shaw:

Dr. Geroux headed the Performing Arts Department for 29 years (1970-1999) at Cranbrook Schools and enabled a wide array programs and performers to become preeminent regionally and nationally. His most profound impact was as leader of the Theater Arts program, which produced many professionals and recognized stars. The annual musical never failed to gather in a broad swath of seasoned and new performers. Chuck had a particular genius for knowing exactly when to inform the cast that the performance was on the brink of disaster, in full knowledge that the next day’s rehearsal would be flawless. His courses in Shakespeare, speech, and set design were always among the most popular. We also loved his rich bass singing voice at countless faculty occasions. His beloved wife, World Language teacher Brigid Geroux had a service for Chuck near their home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where Chuck practiced his devotion to farm-keeping, canoe repair, and building. We will be remembering Chuck and  his colleague Jessica Sinclair at reunion June 7-8-9.
