Students will have widely available access to resources and tools that will allow them to learn in ways best suited to the learner in terms of presentation, pace, and evaluation.

To be highly effective in a technologically oriented world, Cranbrook students will become confident and competent in their command of the areas described below. Through employing technology and its applications in their learning, students will:
  1. Learn to identify and use appropriate technology tools to achieve a particular learning requirement.
  2. Become information literate by:
    • Recognizing a need for information.
    • Identifying and locating appropriate information sources.
    • Knowing how to gain access to the information contained in those sources.
    • Evaluating the quality of information obtained.
    • Organizing the information.
    • Using the information effectively (e.g. to support logical arguments and aesthetic expression).
  3. Build personal knowledge by exploring and connecting related information.
  4. Create and enhance substantive work products, both in content and presentation.
  5. Develop as independent learners.
  6. Participate in collaborative learning and in cognitive partnerships with interactive tools.
  7. Utilize remote learning opportunities.
  8. Take personal responsibility for appropriate use of technology.
Cranbrook Schools’ students will develop these skills, in the context of the core curriculum, beginning in the Lower School. Breadth of capability and depth of proficiency will develop progressively as students move through Middle and Upper Schools. Technology will be used in support of the School’s continuing emphasis on its core programs.
