The Crane-Clarion Earns All-American Rating and the Highest Score in Its History

The National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), one of the two flagship student journalism organizations in the country, has recently awarded The Crane-Clarion the highest rating in the newspaper’s history.
The NSPA gave the 2017-2018 Crane 455 out of a possible 500 points as well as an All-American rating, the highest rating a newspaper can achieve. In addition, The Crane earned five out of five marks of distinction: one in coverage and content, two in text, one in visuals, and one in presentation. The publication has never been named All-American and has never received all five marks of distinction—until this year.

“Community coverage was top-notch, and [the] staff achieved excellent coverage of global and national events and issues, along with students’ views of them,” the judge’s comment reads. “It was a distinct pleasure to read and critique The Crane-Clarion.”

The second issue of the newspaper was distributed on December 13th.

Many congratulations to the students and faculty who have contributed to the success of The Crane-Clarion!
