CK Varsity Hockey Coach Inducted into Hall of Fame

In honor of his support of and dedication to Cranbrook Schools athletics and the CK program team, head coach Andy Weidenbach has been inducted into the Allen Park Sports Hall of Fame.

Developed by the Parks and Recreation Department of Allen Park, the Sports Hall of Fame exists to recognize the efforts and successes made by Allen Park residents (either prior or current) who have devoted their time and energy to student athletic activities, or who have themselves earned athletic distinction.

Weidenbach, who resided in Allen Park with his family for over 40 years before moving to the Cranbrook campus, certainly meets the criteria of someone who has dedicated themselves to student athletics. Since 1999, Weidenbach has served as president of the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League, as well as an officer with the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association. This latter organization has awarded him membership in their Hall of Fame since 2009, just two years after he was named national coach of the year in 2007. He has also been recognized by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), which has named him coach of the year a whopping eight times.

Weidenbach has served as head coach of the CK varsity hockey team for the past 25 years; during the last season alone, the teams won 483 games combined. Weidenbach’s leadership has earned varsity hockey 10 state championship titles and two runner’s-up finishes. This upcoming season will be Weidenbach’s last, and this award serves as a timely recognition of his tireless commitment to student athletic success.

More details about Weidenbach’s accomplishments, as well as the other two inductees into the Allen Park Sports Hall of Fame, can be found here at The News-Herald.
