CK Debate Team Travels to Harvard for National Forensics Tournament

The CK Debate Team had a rewarding time at the 43rd Annual Harvard National Forensics Tournament. The grueling three-day competition took place at Harvard University from Saturday, February 18th to Monday, February 20th.

This competition is arguably the biggest and most prominent of the nation’s many high school debate tournaments. Students are given the opportunity to sharpen their oratory and argumentation skills against students from schools across the nation. As such, the competition was fierce; but the team held its own and delivered some impressive speeches throughout the weekend.

For the first time in many years, one of the Cranbrook teams managed to “break,” meaning they were able to advance beyond the competition’s preliminary rounds. This achievement goes to sophomores Aashray Khanna and Justin Wang, who finished the tournament with an outstanding record of 5-3. On the varsity level, seniors Maddie Fink and Olivia Gordon made a solid finish with a 3-3 record.

Congratulations to the team for maintaining such a strong front against some tough competition. Well done!
