Exciting News from Cranbrook Robotics!

January and February are exhilarating months for robotics teams, as the qualifying seasons wrap up and the state championships approach to determine who will head to the world championships. The Cranbrook Schools Robotics Teams have been racking up a number of awards and achievements that have qualified them for the Michigan State VEX Championship.

Of the nine VEX teams, comprising students from grades 8 to 12, five teams have qualified for the Michigan State VEX Championship. February 4th marks the end of the VEX qualifying season; until that date, the four remaining teams will have the chance to qualify for that state championship.

Of our twelve VEX IQ teams, comprising students from grades 4 to 7, four teams have qualified for the Michigan State VEX IQ Championship. VEX IQ’s qualifying season also ends on February 4th, and the unqualified teams have three more competition opportunities to qualify for the state championship.

When all qualified teams head to their respective Michigan State Championship events in late February, they will be competing to qualify for the World Championship, which happens each year in April.

The Upper School also has four FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) teams, whose season operates differently from the VEX season. After a semester of engineering and preparations, the FTC teams are getting ready for the Michigan State Championship, which will be held at Cranbrook in late February. The USA-North FTC Championship gives the teams the opportunity to qualify for the FTC’s World Championship, which is also held in April each year.

Best of luck to all of our robotics teams in these exciting months to come!
