CK Students Present Independent Research at JSHS

Two Cranbrook students participated in the 58th Annual SE Michigan Regional Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS).
Junior, Mikul Saravanan, presented his independent research project titled “Smart Multipurpose Air Handling Robot with AI-Based Environmental Anomaly Detection.” He was recognized for his dedication and achievements in the STEM field.

Junior, Michelle Hua, presented her independent research project titled “GC-SSN: A Novel Geometric Consistency-based Self-Supervised Neural Network for 3D Human Shape and Motion Reconstruction.” After two rounds of oral presentations, Michelle was recognized as the first-place finalist and will presenting her research at the National JSHS in Albuquerque, NM, April 20-23.

Sponsored by the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force and administered by the National Science Teaching Association, the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium seeks "to encourage high school students to engage in original research focused on science, technology, engineering and math and to recognize them for their accomplishments."

The Southeast Michigan Regional JSHS at Wayne State University is cooperatively sponsored by the Army Educational Outreach Program and the National Science Teaching Association.

Student research projects are focused on one of eight areas: environmental science; biomedical sciences; life sciences; medicine and health/behavioral sciences; engineering and technology; mathematics and computer sciences; physical sciences; or chemistry.
