Cranbrook Schools’ Upper School student newspaper is no stranger to accolades from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA), an international student press association founded in 1925 that, among its other functions, judges and awards student press work.

The Crane-Clarion has frequently earned the Gold Medal, the highest rating given to student print or digital media for overall excellence. Indeed, the Crane taken home the Gold Medal each of the past seven years.

But for 2020-2021, the paper received the highest review it has ever been given by the CSPA – an astonishing 992 out of 1,00 possible points. Additionally, the paper received “All-Columbian Honors” for all the three judgment categories: essentials, verbal, and visual.
