Updated with Performances: 40th Annual Strickland Choreography Competition

The 40th Annual Strickland Choreography Competition took place on Monday April 27. This milestone year for the program fell, of course, during a historic period for Cranbrook Schools and the world.

In a very special event, the performance videos and adjudication were live streamed on Monday evening.

Student dancers submitted videos of their original dances which were released to the adjudicators and the audience at 7:00 PM Eastern time. Immediately following, three adjudicators, (two of whom were Cranbrook alumnae and Strickland finalists) Cranbrook Schools Director of Dance Kay Rediers, and David Strickland spoke briefly on a live webinar.

The webinar featured a special program featuring fifteen past winners of the competition performing wherever in the world they live now. Locations include Boston, New York, Equator – even the middle of the ocean.

Now, both the student and alumni performances are available at the links below. They are remarkable documents of strength of program in dance over decades. Click the links below to watch!
