Cranbrook Schools Recognized as SMART Exemplary School: First in State
As an early part of its commitment to developing a culture of technological innovation and engagement, Cranbrook Schools installed its very first SMART Board in 1999.
Twenty years later, Cranbrook has been honored by SMART Technologies with the SMART Exemplary School Award. The award recognizes Cranbrook Schools for demonstrating “effective, innovative practices in the use of SMART solution to enhance teaching and learning across all divisions.”
“Cranbrook believes that when technology is ultimately in the hands of the students, students are able to make and create the best outcomes possible,” said Kim Parrillo, a representative from SMART Technologies who presented the award.
Over the past years, Cranbrook has been able to provide support to other schools that are interested in incorporating SMART technologies and concepts in their own communities.

There are only 30 schools internationally who have achieved this status, with nine in the United States. Cranbrook is the first and only school in the state of Michigan to achieve this level of recognition.
Eight faculty members have previously been recognized as SMART Exemplary Educators (SEEs) for their continued commitment to promoting innovative technology use in the classroom:

Members of every division of Cranbrook Schools were present to share in the presentation of this award, which recognizes the school-wide collaborative effort to use innovative technology for the promotion of student success.
