Applicants are encouraged to submit all parts of the Admission Application by January 31 to be included in the first round of admission decisions. First round decision letters will be mailed by early March. Applications received after January 31 will be given consideration as space permits.

Submit the Application and Student Questionnaire
  • Complete the online application and submit the $50 application fee.
  • Cranbrook accepts the SSAT common application with the condition that candidates also set up an online account and complete Cranbrook's supplemental short form.
Schedule an interview with an admission dean (International students should schedule an interview after submitting an application and TOEFL results.)

  • Interviews may be scheduled on weekdays beginning in October. On the day of your interview, you may arrange to tour campus and attend classes.
  • Students who do not reside locally may request a Skype/phone interview.
If you live in Mainland China, arrange the required interview with Vericant at http://www.vericant.com/interview
  • Vericant interviews are only offered in Mainland China at this time and will serve as the official interview for applying to Cranbrook.
  • Cranbrook admission officers will no longer offer individual interviews via Skype or in-person for applicants from Mainland China.

Submit Principal/Counselor, English, and Math teacher recommendations
  • Download the forms and give them to your teachers with a stamped envelope addressed to the Cranbrook Admission Office, or your teachers can complete these forms online at http://schools.cranbrook.edu/recs then e-mail, fax or mail them in.  
  • Teachers should submit recommendations directly to our office.
Submit an official transcript
  • Download the transcript release form and give it to your current school.
  • Your current school should forward transcripts directly to our office.
  • Cranbrook requires grades from first marking period of the current year and the previous two years.
Register to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) at http://ssat.org (see dates at far right)

Character Skills Snapshot
  • Please request that your scores be reported directly to Cranbrook Schools. Our school code for the SSAT is 2650.
  • Recent scores for other standardized tests may be used in lieu of taking the SSAT.  Contact our office to confirm.
  • Character and personal growth are an integral part of a Cranbrook education.  The Snapshot will help us get to know you better.
  • For students who take the SSAT, there is no charge to take The Snapshot.  For more information go to ssat.org/snapshot.
If English is not your first language, register to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) at http://toefl.org AND complete the International Applicants Questionnaire.
  • Please request that your scores be reported directly to Cranbrook Schools. Our school code for the TOEFL is 8157.
  • Test availability may be limited in some countries. If you are unable to arrange to take this test, please contact the admission office for possible alternatives.
  • An I-20 form will be issued once a student is accepted and enrolled.
